Painted a few months ago, this painting represents my path. The future often seems arduous after choosing to confront the evil in the World. The path is narrow and often lonely. Jesus died working in peaceful opposition to the Roman Empire. Money changers were doing business in places of worship. Tyranny had been accepted. And, doctrine was not to be questioned. When asked to carry a Roman soldier's gear, the person was obligated to carry it for one mile. Jesus said to walk an extra mile.

To me, to be Christlike is to walk into an uncertain, sometimes dangerous looking, future with the full intention and steadfastness to do the right thing. Everyone dies. No one will make it out of here alive. We live in this moment. The past cannot be amended, and the future is not promised to anyone. From moment to moment, an individual must choose what and what not to do. Even if the consequence might be crucifixion, a Christlike individual will choose to do the righteous thing.

A single star adorns the stormy sky giving hope for the future. The path disappears into the distance with no sign of civilization or company. Even the surroundings are obscured and blend in with an oncoming tsunami. Only the immediate foreground - this moment - can be seen in clear detail. The severity of the future on the horizon seems daunting yet improbable. Shall the individual forge on and pick up where Jesus left off, or die without making any further progress? Choose your path wisely.
