It's a Start

Every moment is the starting point of the rest of your life.  There is no process that begins at completion.  Constant flux is the nature of reality.  The infinite ebbs and flows create a dynamic equilibrium so complex that it's impossible to completely understand.  Uncertainty is part of the fabric of the Universe.  Many incomprehensible factors have brought you to where you are now.  Accept your starting point.

There is always at least one element that you will never control -> the past = everything that has happened up until now.  You can have no further influence over the past.  It's over.  Use it as learning material only.  The past should not affect your current mood or attitude.  If you allow this, you are allowing something uncontrollable to dictate your behavior and, therefore, your behavior will become habitually tied to the past.  Instead, act with purpose

The future cannot be controlled but is fundamentally different from the past in the regard that it can be influenced.  This is your most powerful leverage in life.  It begs the question, "where are your current actions leading you?"  Resilience is a function of adaptation.  Repentance - admission of wrongdoing and changing for the better - is a drink of cold water in the desert.  The future is not barren unless you fail to plant seeds.

When that voice in your head says, "take out the trash," and the juvenile that sometimes lurks in your head says, "I don't want to," it's imperative that you take out the trash.  One of your life goals is to defeat the "I don't want to" part of you that resists productive action.  Establish a habit of contradicting the inner-juvenile.  Do the things you tell yourself to do.  Not doing those things is how regrets are generated. "I knew this would happen. I told myself to ______."  Sound familiar?

Focus on trajectory.  Take action.  The best remedy for shame is action.  If there's something you want to work on about yourself, start doing it without hesitation.  What differences are invoked in your mind when you picture a fat man sitting on a couch eating a bag of potato chips versus when you picture a fat man walking for exercise?  The difference is the perception of trajectory.  The fat man on the couch yells heart attack.  The one walking suggests rejuvination.  What is your trajectory?

Whether you like it or not, this is your start.  This moment begins the rest of your life.  What will the rest of your life look like if you continue on with what you are doing?  If the outlook is good, proceed.  If the outlook is not so good, change course.  Always take positive action.  Earn your rest.  Celebrate wins.  Head in the direction you want to go.

"Successs requires no apologies.  Failure permits no alibis."
